This beautiful devotion dates back to the 1500's. St. Teresa of Avila gave the original statue as a wedding gift to a beloved patroness, who passed it down to her daughter on her own wedding day. Years later, the daughter donated the statue to Carmelite Friars in Prague, to return it to its Carmelite roots. Miraculous circumstances are associated with the statue and it has become a special devotion for many Catholic throughout the ages.
